The hotel was good, the location was good. Easy check in process, nice breakfast. Only let down was the rooms not being very clean, with hairs on the floor and dust on all the surfaces.

Kanazawa is great if you are into arts and crafts and want to buy hand crafted souvenirs. Another reason to visit is to drink sake as the city has really old distilleries. The city has a Jazz scene, I was able to visit one Jazz bar where they played records, it was excellent. It also has several amazing gardens, including one of three most amazing gardens in Japan called Kenroku-en. It apparently manages to achieve all 6 important garden principles in a single garden which is said to be extremely hard. City is walkable and have a large bus network. Another reason is that you can do day trips to Shirakawa-go and Takayama, there are many tours and they are well worth doing. Shirakawa-go is simply amazing. Finally, the Shinkansen line going to Tokyo has beautiful views.

Kanazawa has a relaxed vibe and a friendly atmosphere. There was plenty to do and many things were free or inexpensive. The castle and gardens were beautiful and we also enjoyed the markets, the samurai area and other museums.

The Castle grounds, museum of modern art, night lit botanical garden and the acquarium are excellent, and my kids also had a good time climbing the various rock formations/ sitting on a boatride to see the sea caves, and soaking in the sakura. (the latter 3 activities require a drive out of Kanazawa itself)
Make sure to visit the Aquarium! Family friendly, well curated, and very reasonably priced.
Be sure to eat at the seafood market - the sea urchin and unagi on offer will speak for itself

Kanazawa was brilliant, especially after Kyoto.
Kanazawa was brilliant, especially after Kyoto. While Kyoto was crowded and set-up to process lots and lots of people, here it was so different. The cherry blossom festival in the park was full of people, but it wasn't heaving, like so much of Kyoto, and it was mostly Japanese people. There's so much to see and do here! People were super friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The castle area is beautiful, especially at night. The various Chaya areas were pleasant too. We rented kimonos and went for a rickshaw tour around Kanazawa, which was a highlight of the whole trip.

We spent 4 days in Kanazawa.
We spent 4 days in Kanazawa.
Taking time to enjoy beautiful parks during cherry blossoms.
Parks looked like from the postcard, presenting top level of Japanese garden art. Including windy paths, streams, small bridges, bonzai trees. Elaborated to every detail.
City walls impressed me, and at well preserved samurai district we could find out how the life looked like 300-400 years ago.
If I will have more time, I will spend couple days more here.
Amazing hotel to all regards. Located at the heart of Kanazawa in the Katamachi (Samourai) district, close to main avenue, area full of restaurants and at walking distance to castle, castle park, contemporary museum, and other areas of interest. Superb room design, large rooms and very pleasant bathrooms, toilets separated from shower (rare in Japan). Breakfast by far the best we had in Japan. Absolutely amazing to all regards, with spectacular attention to details. Nice and relaxing public bath. Impeccable room cleanliness. Bravo!
We had such a wonderful stay here! A cosy and funky Japanese style inn. Very small hotel but the rooms were big enough. Also there was a projector for watching movies, which was awesome! The host was extremely helpful and gave us great advice regarding which onsens to go to, etc. We we're here at Christmas, and it was so thoughtful of Taka to leave us little Christmas cakes and a Merry Xmas note. Would wholeheartedly recommend staying here for a comfortable and welcoming stay in Kanazawa :)
The room was a very decent size and there was even a table for 2, a washing machine and a microwave, which all came in useful. The staff were very friendly as well and helped us find our way around. The breakfast buffet has a traditional Japanese section and a continental breakfast selection as well. The hotel was very close to major attractions, and also near bus stops that could take you to and from Kanazawa JR station. Overall, very happy with my stay and will be coming back!
Just an amazing hotel for the value. Probably thr biggest room we've had in all of Japan with super comfortable bed and bathroom. The hotel is new and it shows. It's sparkling and big. The front desk has a big co-working space and free coffee/drinks. There is a big spa and onsen on-site and the wifi is super fast.
Staff is next level friendly. Shout out to Diego for making our stay extra special. I would definitely recommend this hotel in kanazawa for everyone
The location right beside the train station is great and from there you can take the circular lines which get you to all the main tourist attractions. The room was nice and like most places in Japan the staff were friendly and helpful and spoke better English than many of the places we stayed. Overall, during cherry blossom season I would recommend Kanazawa as the park is stunning and one of the top parks in Japan. The food in the hotel was nice also.
I love the Dormy Inn chain: they have a lot of amenities and such a great breakfast buffet for a good price. The hotel in Kanazawa had a amazing breakfast with fresh seafood donburi, tempura, lots of japanese options.
The onsen was great, as was the manga library. Rooms are great, a twist of traditional and modern. The entire hotel breathes zen and quiet (except the madness at the breakfast buffet during crowded hours).
Room was a good size and we had all comforts. Breakfast was unique where you had two choices: a Western breakfast or a Japanese breakfast. We tried each and both were enjoyable. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Hotel is about a 20 minute leisurely walk from the rail station but very close to the markets and the Kanazawa Castle and Kenrouken Garden
I would recommend this hotel to people visiting the area
This was about a 15 minute walk from Kanazawa station, right next to the fish market & a short walk to the castle & park area - perfect spot for sightseeing! We really enjoyed our stay here, the room was quite spacious for Japan hotels - we think it was the largest hotel room we’ve had in Japan! The staff were really nice with a relaxed vibe & the cafe on ground floor had great coffee!
Beautiful and authentic rooms, very aesthetic and great to experience more of an Onsen style hotel. The amenities were fantastic - would definitely recommend including breakfast in your stay, the buffet style options were fantastic and delicious. It's walking distance to everywhere you would want to go around Kanazawa and was a great base to come and go from too.
The hotel is located about 5 to 10mins walk to Kanazawa Train Station. Very convenient and accessible. We were staying at level 24th, had a very nice view facing the train station. The room is clean and well equipped with amenities. The room is consider spacious. Love the hotel decoration, feel like in Europe.
location is 3 min. walk to the Kanazawa station. with a convenient store right at the ground floor.
Free coffee and tea at lobby. Great Coffee ☕.
location is quiet. no concern of disturb from the train track.
The bathroom is bigger than most of other Japanese hotels I stay, very comfortable for a bath.
Extremely welcoming and friendly staff. Lovely style of the hotel and the intérior design of the room. Rooms larger than average in Japan, woth sauna and bathtub. Perfect location in walking distance from the train station and visit all the main sights of Kanazawa. Good japanese breakfast.
The Sanraku offers everything you could possibly need when visiting Kanazawa. Great location, beautiful and stylish hotel with lovely facilities. We particularly enjoyed the Club Lounge and the Violinist was wonderful. A very special hotel and one we would love to revisit.
The breakfast was the best we have had in Japan so far.
The room had a nice view to kanazawa city and part of the castle's garden.
We had to make a call to the post service and also send the luggage to the next hotel, in the reception they helped us solve all this.
very convenient. Just a few minute walk from Kanazawa station, next to Nikko Kanazawa Hotel. Hotel is very new. Room is spacious compared to general Japanese hotels. I like that toilet is a separated section from shower. Breakfast buffet is delicious.
Everything was perfect with the Hotel Nikko Kanazawa. Great location, fantastic staff, modern luxurious rooms and a delicious buffet breakfast with lots of variety. Great value for money considering we stayed in Luxury rooms.
Quiet, centrally located hotel in Kanazawa. Not expensive. Great bar on the first floor with tasty food. Friendly staff willing to give recommendations for the area
The hotel is located in a location where it is very easy to visit the Kenrokuen garden, the Kanazawa Castle, the Omicho market, and various shopping centres.
